College Library has been playing a very significant role in the Educational Process and it is heart of the institution. Library provides knowledge resources to achieve objectives of the institution and helps in conservation as well as dissemination of knowledge. Our College Library performs a variety of functions by the way of collecting information, processing and retrieving the relevant information, helping the students and faculty with text books, reference books and journals, as well as by maintaining an efficient reference and information service.
The college library was established in August 1978 with few hundreds of books. Today it has grown to over 80,000 books with addition of e-resources as well. Growth of the library collections has been in tune with the growing needs of institution.
Focusing upon the very important role of the library, our college Library has been growing steadily over the years. Thus looking at the overall development Library has been shifted to a separate building on 3rd & 4th floor, which is constructed in 2013.
The new building equipped with latest ICT equipment’s keeping in mind on-going expansion of college. This new building along with 2 floors Library was inaugurated on 21st June, 2013. It has a seating capacity of 180 users in Reading Hall.
Collection Development: Every year new books are added to the library collection.

- Reading Hall : 180+ students in each session (Morning & Afternoon)
Computerization of Library:
Library is using a in-house developed library software e-granthalya 3.0, which caters all major activities namely Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, and Serial Control with it.
OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) and Internet facilities are made available. All the computers in library are connected with dedicated Wi-Fi network.
Library is well connected with the students & faculty through its Blog & email facility.
Bar Coding of Library Collection: Two barcode printer and Four scanners are purchased for the bar-coding purpose. Library collection is completely bar-coded and also students are being given library card with barcode since 2008.
OPAC and Card Catalogue: Online Public Access Catalogue and Card catalogue (Author, Title and Subject) has been provided to have an easy access to the collection of the library. The library staff helps readers in browsing the computerized database through OPAC.
Inter- Library Loan Facility: The College Library provides inter library loan facility to its readers to cater to the extra reading needs of its readers. Library has the institutional membership of IIPS, TISS, British Council Library & American centre library.
Other Library Activities:
Book Bank Scheme: The College has a Book Bank Scheme run by the Students Aid Fund for the socially backward & needy students. A set of textbooks is provided to the students to be used in the academic year and returned after the final examination is over.
Library Orientation program: We have introduced the Library Orientation program for new comers in order to make them aware of the library facilities available for them.
Book Exhibition: Every year the college library holds the book exhibition cum sale event to have a glance at recent publications and to facilitate bulk purchase of books for library. This has been a prominent event of our college.
Best Library User: we have started this initiative to develop reading habit and attract our students’ towards library. Best library user is selected among the students who make the best possible use of library facilities and spend quality time in the library. The award carries a certificate and a gift.
Library Finance: The finance for the library comes in the form of fees from the students. Some share of grants comes from the University Grants Commissions, New Delhi, and a special allocation of funds comes from the parent body of the college.
Grievance redress of the students:
- Consultation with the Librarian: Students can consult the librarian for problems related to the library and its services. The librarian will try to settle them in his capacity or forward them to the Principal of the college.
- Suggestion Book: A suggestion book is kept in the library seeking valuable suggestions and recommendations from the readers. This is a new initiative to enhance the services and reach to every student and faculty members of college.
- Advisory Committee for the Library: The Library Advisory Committee plays a vital role in enhancing and developing the library services, making suitable policies that will help the library to render its best
